Vanilla Ice Cream

My husband loves ice cream; he could eat ice cream all day every day! So I decided to start making ice cream at home. We bought a Cuisinart ice cream machine, and have being making ice cream ever since. We love to eat the ice cream with the caramel sauce and the macerated strawberries. Today I’m going to give you the recipe for a basic vanilla ice cream and coming soon a recipe for banana ice cream!

This is the ice cream machine. It is very important to ALWAYS leave the chilling bowl in the freezer at least one day before use. Otherwise  the ice ream won't turn out well.

Ingredients:
1 cup of whole milk, well chilled
¾ cup of granulated sugar
2 cups of heavy cream, well chilled
1-2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract

Procedure:
In a medium bowl use a whisk to combine the milk and sugar just until the sugar dissolves, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla (to taste).

Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into the freezer bowl through the ingredient spout and let mix until thickened (about 25 to 30 minutes).

This is the way it looks when the mixture starts to thicken.

One recipe of vanilla ice cream will fill one of these to the top, about one quart.

The finished product.

After half hour it should look like this. Remember the mixing bowl needs to come directly from the freezer, no delay.

Enjoy!
